[Update] It’s official! Apple has announced a new event to announce New macbooks on October 14th.
Today Seth Weintraub posted on Computerworld.com expressing a rumor of new updates for the next Macbook updates. From Apple’s history it is expected that the Macbooks are due for a hardware update of some kind. Well Seth says…
that the new Macbooks and/or Macbook Pros will be thinner than the current 1in when closed models. This would be a huge update but wouldn’t this hinder on the amount of performance hardware you could stuff into this baby? In my opinion the thinner rumor might be a little hard to believe but possible. It is just too hard to imagine a Macbook or Macbook Pro being thinner than it already is. Then Mr. Weintraub goes on to say that there will be an update to the trackpad too, allowing multi-touch features and a glass trackpad. This sounds really cool but I do not understand the reason for making the trackpad out of glass. Maybe Apple is trying to make it as responsive as their patented iPhone screen. Now the latest Macbooks already have some multi-touch features, but the way he adds multi-touch to his list of updates might mean even more gestures you would be able to do with you fingers on the trackpad. He states, also seen in pictures around the web, that the Macbooks will be made out of one piece of aluminum which will be very eco-friendly and still sturdy at the same time. It is unclear though on whether this new case is for the new Macbook Pros, or for both the regular and pro models. Of course there should be some processor upgrades and hard drive upgrades and so on. It is romured that it will be the new Centrino 2 processors from Intel. Now the other thing is that Seth goes and crushes the huge rumor of a Macbook touch. He says, “The screen isn’t multi-touch.” You could also take this quote and say that it still could have single touch features, or maybe I got some wishful thinking. It would be a horrible touch screen if it didn’t have multi-touch anyways. So what do you think? You think there is still a possibility for a Macbook Touch? You think the new Macbooks will go aluminum and thinner? Let me know what you think.
SWEET!

I think they might go ALOONIMOON, but maybe not THINNER… =P
Although I still don’t understand why the trackpads’ll be made out of GLASS…
