For awhile now I’ve been experimenting with HD video ever since I got my . I found that the only online site that supported HD video without having to pay any money was . YouTube was always criticized for it’s lack of HD support but YouTube makes up for it with its HUGE community. A couple weeks back I remember watching a by on YouTube and he had found a new “hack” to play video’s in HD on YouTube. The “hack” was to put &fmt=22 after a YouTube video’s url and it would then load up in HD. This of course only worked if the video was uploaded in 720p HD. So this of course gave hint that YouTube would be making a switch to HDV support in the future. Well I didn’t expect it so soon but YouTube has finally officially got HD support! All videos that were uploaded in 720p HD will now have a “Watch in HD” link under the video instead of a “Watch in High Quality” link. And HD video on YouTube looks great! It really adds to the quality of some of the videos on YouTube. All the people with HDV Camcorders can finally get the full use out of their cameras on YouTube. The best thing is that YouTube doesn’t put a limit on how many HDV you can upload. is still a beautiful site, but they have a limit of only 1 HD video per week. Also if your interested in doing HD videos on YouTube now, I would recommend either the or the . They are very portable and easy to carry around making it easy to capture video anywhere. So what do you think about YouTube finally going HD? Will you start taking video in HD instead of just High Quality? Let me know in the comments below! I’m interested in seeing what this will do for Youtube.
